Virginia Springs Eternal

Lord you did create spring for the soul
and the soul for the Virginia spring.
For as the world blossoms, so does my heart and voice.
Awake again, O sleeper,
rise from your bed,
for His son gives you light,
And night
Stricken beneath your feet,
while the heat of day adorns flesh
and transfigures the body ablaze.

A Breeze through branches
and choruses from aviaries above.
The sun like a bridegroom,
And I, though solitary in my entrance,
play the bridegroom to be.
A day, a heart, a life to conquer.
Six billion people but this day is mine,
And I will rule it with grace and justice...
and love songs from when the earth was young.

Running in the warmth of midday,
underneath the shade of Gaia.

I have no hand to hold, but yours,
Sweet land of the Virgin Queen,
And I embrace every drop of you,
red clay and amber woodlands
trace a path to distant peaks
bathed in scarlet haze.

I have no beauty to love, but yours,
Sweet heart of the Virgin Queen,
your son embraced every drop of me,
red blood and amber thorns
traced another path to a distant peak
bathed in scarlet haze.

And though it is not good to be alone,
for now you warm a cold heart and stir a voice to praise.
Come surround me again,
let me touch and taste and come to life anew,
while I wait to hear another voice,
One I yearn to call my name,
And worth a thousand crimson sunsets
casting flames and dust in the dusk over sweet Virginia.
